Hurricane prepardness extends beyond humans!!

Hurricane prepardness extends beyond the regular "putting your impoortant documents "in plactic ziplock bags". If you have pets, you need to think about them as well. Letting the fend for themselves in a hurricane is not only cruel but inhumane as well.Make all necessary preparations including taking care of your pet's needs such as food, water and appropriate shelter.

You may be scared but a pet left by itself maybe traumatized for life. ,/p. Think of it this way: your wife is with you during the most daring hours of a HURRICANE but your children are left outside to fend for themselves. Now do you want your pet(s) to be in the same position? We don't think so!!!

ARF now member of WSPA

PHILIPSBURG--Animals R Friends Foundation is now an official member society of World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), joining some 707 member societies in 145 countries.

WSPA promotes protection of animals and helps to prevent cruelty to animals and to relieve animal suffering in every part of the world, based on its policy that animals have the right to live their lives free from suffering.

Animals R Friends will receive guidance and assistance with its projects in St. Maarten and will be in contact with other member societies that will help with learning about how projects and campaigns are conducted in other countries.

WSPA will provide assistance and materials to help and rescue animals in case St. Maarten is affected by a disaster such as a hurricane. “Animals R Friends and the animals in St. Maarten will surely benefit from this international cooperation within this worldwide society WSPA,” the local group said.

WSPA is recognised by the United Nations (UN) and works to raise the standards of animal welfare throughout the world by developing campaigns, education, projects and rescue initiatives in partnership with all its member societies around the world.

MISSION STATEMENT

Animals R Friends (ARF) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make sure the Sint Maarten community becomes more involved in the well being of the SXM fauna through legalization, education, and by increasing awareness that animals are friends and not property. When killing is not an option, you need No Kill Solutions. A NoKill community is one where all healthy and treatable animals, including feral cats, are saved.
